| It is
my great privilege to have been appointed by Governor Jon Corzine
as the first Director of New Jersey’s Office of Homeland
Security and Preparedness. The Governor has entrusted my office
to coordinate and unify all of New Jersey’s security and
preparedness efforts, with a focus on inclusiveness, regionalization
and transparency.
- Inclusiveness:
Our efforts involve all elements of society, from government
to the private sector, from social groups to families and individuals.
What’s more, we cannot function effectively without your
assistance, cooperation and — most important of all —
your vigilance.
- Regionalization:
Our concerns overlap county and municipal boundaries, and even
the boundaries between New Jersey and our neighboring states.
We are all interdependent.
- Transparency:
The people of New Jersey must be able to understand what the
Office of Homeland Security and Preparedness does, and why we
function the way we do. New Jersey’s residents must also
understand how they can help us keep them safe.
